Activities

As a Civic Society we promote events and activities designed to reflect our members’ interests and their interest in the World Heritage Site in particular.

History, archaeology, the environment, natural history, architecture, and the arts all feature in our events and activities programme, and we hope these will grow in number and stature as our membership grows.

It is usual for the Society to hold an Annual Lecture.  The last five of these are listed:

2011  Dr Jim Leary on Marden Henge in the Vale of Pewsey

2012  Dr Alex Craven on the English Civil War

2013 Dr Nick Snashall on the latest developments in the Archaeology of Avebury

2014 Prof Andrew Reynolds on Anglo-Saxon and and Medieval Avebury

2015 Dr Nick Snashall on Living with Monuments; Avebury and the wider Neolithic World
