Ewart Holmes writes:

"20 years ago, events were almost a throw of the dice. Now the aspirations of a WHS are incorporated in town planning legislation and the management plan for Avebury has targets for benefiting both visitors and residents.

The Society has a voice on key committees and has positive links with the Parish Council, Wiltshire Council, English Heritage and The National Trust.

As many of our members have been involved in the many changes since 1975, good and bad, we offer both experience and positive comments, which are well recognised.

Proposals in Avebury and Stonehenge generate Planning Applications; these allow the Society to examine their impact on the countryside, the village and the monuments. We remain ‘on the ball’!"
